Projects

The program "Civic Education in the Spirit of the UN" includes students from the national UN school clubs network who participate in local, national, and international Model UN events, in celebrations of important international days related to children's rights, fostering tolerance and a culture of peace, media and digital literacy, and initiatives for information and democracy.
The "Bulgarian Youth Delegates to the United Nations" program allows two selected young Bulgarians, chosen through a transparent competition, to participate in the decision-making process at the highest international level. They represent the current challenges, priorities, and needs of young people in our country at sessions of the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly and the Commission for Social Development of ECOSOC, as well as participate in processes of exchanging experiences and best practices with delegates from other countries.

The "Information and Publicity" program is implemented through events under the brand "Global Issues Forum" and through maintaining an online media UNA News Bulgaria. The "Information and Publicity" program is successfully integrated into current international initiatives advocating for the establishment of multilateral cooperation.
The Model United Nations is a well-known simulation game in which students and university students take on the roles of diplomats and discuss current topics from the programs of UN bodies and organizations. The aim of the simulation is for participating students to gain knowledge about diplomacy, international relations, and the UN. While preparing for their participation as representatives of different countries, they conduct research, formulate position papers for their country, and make policy proposals, which they then discuss as delegates in the respective forum. At the end of the simulated forums, resolutions are voted on with the goal of reaching consensus among the participating delegations. The best-performing delegates may receive awards. The UNA of Bulgaria supports students and universities in the organization of UN models, by offering topics, resources, and expertise.

The charitable football tournament "Ambassadors' League" is organized by the UNA of Bulgaria with the goal of bringing together on the field representatives of diplomatic missions and Bulgarian institutions, as well as non-governmental organizations, promoting their cooperation through the model of "diplomacy through sports", in the spirit of Goal 3 and Goal 17 of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The funds raised during the tournament are used to conduct human rights education for children and young people across the country. In 2024 we collaborated with UNCHR Bulgaria for the organization of the tournament.
Celebrating important days from the UN calendar is a good opportunity to educate the Bulgarian public on issues that require mobilizing political will and civic activity, such as addressing global problems and commemorating the achievements of humanity. The themes of the international days are always related to the main areas of action of the UN, namely maintaining international peace and security, promoting sustainable development, protecting human rights, and ensuring international law and humanitarian actions.
